Expand your historical knowledge of the city and the local food scene by embarking on a food tour led by local companies Madison Eats and Madison Food Explorers. Madison Eats founder Otehlia Cassidy offers circuits around the city by foot or bike to tourists and residents alike. “The biggest draw of the tours is that you get to experience Madison in a fun, new way. Not only do you get to eat great food, but also meet people [including the chefs] and learn fun facts. I think people feel more connected, and even invested in our city when they have that kind of experience.” Public excursions last two to three hours. Though included venues vary based on group size, transportation method and theme, the cheese boutique Fromagination, a vegan food cart Ladonia Cafe and Old Sugar Distillery are often included on routes. Says owner of Madison Food Explorers Andrea Hughes, “You get to see downtown and enjoy Madison one bite at a time.” Get out there and nosh your way around town.
