Jan Hamilton-Crawford learned health care from the ground up, working as a CNA to help pay for graduate school as a single mom. She went on to lead national healthcare organizations before becoming President and CEO of Oakwood Village, a Lutheran-sponsored nonprofit continuing care community with two locations in Madison.
She is committed to strengthening Oakwood Village so it can serve area seniors and be a magnet for top-tier health professionals as the need for services continues to grow. From 2020 to 2050, the state projects the number of seniors 65+ in Dane County will grow more than 60% — an increase of over 50,000 people.
Oakwood Village aims to be part of the solution, offering a model that emphasizes independence and a community where older adults can thrive, not just passively receive care. Jan is drawing on lessons learned in hospital systems and senior care to support this vision and empower the Oakwood team.
