Six women share stories about their unbreakable mother-daughter bond.
Instilling a Love of Education
“My mom offered this timeless wisdom: ‘We will always need good teachers, and you’re one of them,’” shares Heather Lott.
“When I was a child, my mom taught me to navigate life like the ocean, finding calm in the waves, joy in the ride and strength to stand my ground…” says Lannia Stenz.
A Legacy of Listening, Learning and Love
“[My mom] taught me to see a need and respond with purpose. [Her] Compassion and resolution continue to guide me and I’m proud to walk the path she helped create,” says Tommi Thompson.
“…Most importantly, I learned that being ‘ladylike’ doesn’t mean being quiet or small; it means being strong, wise and knowing when to speak and listen,” says Sonia Spencer.
Breaking the Cycle, Holding the Thread
“I wish I had beautiful stories about my mom. I don’t — but that doesn’t mean she didn’t teach me, or give me the chance to become the kind of mother I am to my daughter,” reflects dr. ananda de oliveira mirilli.
