Badger Prairie Needs Network: A Pantry Powered by People

FOUNDED: 1986

OUR MISSION: Badger Prairie Needs Network’s (BPNN) mission is to fight poverty and end hunger in Dane County. We envision a strong, healthy community where access to nutritional food is readily available and where hunger, at its worst, is a temporary state and not a way of life.

WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES: Badger Prairie Needs Network offers the largest grocery store-style food pantry for people experiencing food insecurity in Dane County that is 100% led and operated by volunteers.

In addition, we provide a free community meal two Saturdays each month, onsite access to Dane County Joining Forces for Families social workers and free legal advocacy focused on ending homelessness and leveling the playing field for people with limited financial means. We work with Public Health Madison Dane County and other local health organizations to provide onsite vaccine clinics, STD testing, and health information and education.

WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT US:

  • Volunteer your time. There are a variety of shifts, including working in the pantry, serving meals or repackaging food. New volunteer orientations are offered Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
  • Make a financial gift to help purchase food and keep the lights on.
  • Donate food through food drives, fundraisers and home gardens.

“By any measure, what happens at BPNN is extraordinary — a community of dedicated volunteers coming together to make sure our neighbors have the food and support they need.”
