A ZEN-SATIONAL SPACE
By Marni McEntee

THE EMPTY-NESTER OWNERS of this Eagle home wanted to carve out a corner of their lakeside retreat that reflected their peripatetic personalities and gave them a restorative space to enjoy, together.

“The goal was melding the home’s Southwest design with a Zen feel in the master bath, complete with a Japanese-style soaking tub for two, says Terri Schmidt, owner and design director of DreamHouse/DreamKitchens in Madison.

Small, metal dragonflies randomly accent the silk-textured porcelain tiles in the shower and face of the two-sided fire – place, which warms the open-concept bath and adds just the right ambiance to the master bedroom. Several niches in the high bedroom wall allow the couple to display some of their travel treasures.

“”The key to creating a wonderful design for my clients was to create a space that made them feel like they were on vacation every day,” she says. Bon voyage!
