Celebrate the Fourth at These Madison-Area Fests

It’s a celebratory time of year, so get ready to check out these area festivals and fireworks shows for a fun Fourth of July weekend.

Monona Community Festival

July 2-4, Winnequah Park

Celebrate Independence Day at the Monona Community Festival. Enjoy live music, games and an arts and craft fair throughout the weekend. Cap off the festivities with a fireworks show (July 4, 9:20 p.m.). Find a map of recommended viewing areas on mononafestival.com.

July 3, Warner Park

Join the Madison Mallards for live music and “Madison’s largest Independence Day fireworks show” following their 5:05 p.m. home game against Fond du Lac. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. northwoodsleague.com/madison-mallards/2022-promotional-schedule

Festival Foods Lights the Isthmus

July 2, Breese Stevens Field

This family-friendly fireworks show features various live music, food and beverages. 2022 WaunaBoom July 4th Family Celebration

July 4, Ripp Park, Waunakee

WaunaBoom brings all-day fun (the event runs 2-10:30 p.m.) with live music, food carts and even a flyover by an F-16. To cap off the night, the fireworks will start at 9:45 p.m. waunaboom.com

The DeForest Windsor Area Chamber 4th of July Community Celebration

July 2-4, Firemen’s Park, DeForest

DeForest is celebrating the Fourth of July all weekend long with entertainment for all ages. There will be live music every night, a food and beer garden, games, a parade and more. Don’t miss the fireworks at dusk (July 4) to wrap up the weekend. deforestarea.com

Lake Leota Fourth of July Fest

July 4, Lake Leota Park, Evansville

Head over to Lake Leota for live entertainment and a fireworks display. The Jimmys, a blues group from Madison, will kick off the celebration at 1 p.m., and The Hounds will play at 5:30 p.m. to bring you ’70s rock ‘n’ roll. Fitchburg Festival of Speed

July 9, Agora at Fitchburg Center

Out of town over the holiday weekend? No worries. Catch a fireworks show on Saturday, July 9, at this fest. The event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Throughout the day, watch a competitive cycling race, take part in a 25-mile ride that explores Fitchburg, a 5K run/walk and a kids fun run.
