Support for Cancer Patients and Their Families

The Madison area has a number of organizations that support cancer patients and their families with support groups, retreats, fundraisers and more.

Breast Cancer Recovery is a Wisconsin organization that offers retreats to women at all stages of breast cancer so they can begin to heal emotionally. The organization’s Infinite Boundaries retreats are designed to help women find inner strength and gain hope needed to live each day beyond the boundaries of breast cancer. Retreats are in scenic, natural settings and are held year-round. bcrecovery.org

Gilda’s Club Madison creates a community of free emotional support, cancer education and hope for children and adults with any cancer diagnosis and those who care for them. The organization currently supports nearly 4,000 people. gildasclubmadison.org

Camp Kesem is a nationwide community driven by passionate college student leaders that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. It operates free summer camps, including one at UW-Madison, that are often life-changing events for kids, providing them a safe and welcoming environment to have fun and rediscover their childhood. campkesem.org

Susan G. Komen is a national organization that advocates for research, community health, global outreach and public policy initiatives to make the biggest impact against breast cancer. The organization runs well-known fundraising events each year in the Madison area, including the More than Pink Walk, formerly called the Race for the Cure. ww5.komen.org

The American Cancer Society has a plethora of resources to support those with cancer and their families, including information, fundraising events, transportation, advocacy and lodging for those receiving treatment far from home. cancer.org
