Make your own deliciously rich and thick hot chocolate with this recipe from Megan Hile, owner of Madison Chocolate Company. Share it with friends and family throughout the season of giving. Or whip it up to enjoy yourself on the longest night of the year.


  • 6 oz. single origin chocolate 65% or darker (Chopped fine)
  • 2 c. whole milk
  • pinch of salt
  • fresh whipped cream (optional)

Place milk, chopped chocolate and pinch of salt in heavy bottomed pan. Place over medium heat, while constantly stirring. Because chocolate can easily burn, take care to keep stirring until fully melted and emulsified. Pour into small delicate cups. Serve the hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream on the side for an extra indulgent treat.
