Tell us about MH Imaging.
MH Imaging is Wisconsin’s independent option for high-quality, affordable, outpatient medical imaging services. We offer the only Open MRI (1.2T Oasis high-field) in Dane and Racine counties. We also offer 1.5T wide-bore MRI, low-radiation-dose CT, X-ray, ultrasound and echocardiograms.
We accept imaging orders from all providers, regardless of system affiliation, and we can send all imaging directly to any hospital system electronically. Patients who do not use health insurance are able to “self-refer” and meet with our radiologist to review results and determine next steps in care. MH Imaging can schedule our patients the same or the next day, offer final results the same day and our contracted rates are far less than in-patient radiology departments — making us much more affordable.
You mention that MH Imaging is more affordable. What are payment options for patients?
MH Imaging contracts with all major health insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid and most HMOs. We also offer discounted, self-pay prices for patients who do not use health insurance. It costs $650 for any single MRI, $395 for any single CT, $325 for ultrasound, $550 for an echocardiogram and $100 for X-ray. All of our patients’ imaging is read by Board-Certified Radiologists or Cardiologists, and that’s included in the self-pay price.
How does a patient access MH Imaging’s services?
When your clinician orders an MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound or echocardiogram, just give us a call. We will obtain your order from your clinician on your behalf, we’ll get you scheduled quickly, and we will verify and authorize your health insurance coverage and explain your coverage before your appointment. After your imaging, your results are sent directly to your referring clinician and the images are delivered digitally or via disc to anywhere you’d like them to go, at no charge to you. If you do not have an order from a clinician and have a nagging pain or curiosity, you are able to “Self-Refer” and pay cash for those services. Just call us and we’ll get you scheduled.
What makes MH Imaging stand out in the industry?
When comparing MH Imaging to most hospital-based radiology departments, there are many differences. We can accommodate same-day or next-day scheduling, compared with two to eight weeks [at a hospital], depending on the county you’re in. Results are available same-day, so people are not left waiting anxiously for news on their health concern.
MH Imaging is much more affordable. Our outpatient facilities perform the same high-quality imaging for much less because we specialize in it. We do not have high-tech emergency rooms and operating rooms, which adds to a hospital system’s operating expenses. It usually ends up being about one-quarter as much, so patients are saving 75 cents on each dollar when they have their imaging done at MH.
We are also very accessible. There are no parking ramps, no elevators, no extensive phone trees. We are easy to find, and we make your experience as seamless as possible, including answering all of your questions about how your insurance coverage will work for your appointments, ahead of time.
Lastly, we are independent and Radiologist-owned. There is no “Board” nor any “venture capital” with certain financial expectations. Therefore, we have the luxury of making company decisions with patient care and employee welfare prioritized.
