Sephardic & Mizrahi Voices: Heritage, Visibility and Change

May 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Sarah Levin, Executive Director of JIMENA (Jews Indigenous to the Middle East and North Africa), will discuss Jewish diversity and the experiences of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews, perceptions and misconceptions within and beyond the Jewish community, and the impact of antisemitism. Drawing on the organization’s work to advance the culture and history of Jews displaced from the Middle East and North Africa and ensure accurate narrative representation in both Jewish and broader Middle Eastern dialogue, she will share findings and implications of the JIMENA commissioned landmark National Demographic Study of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews in the United States, released in August 2025. As a proud mixed Turkish-Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jew, Levin will bring a personal perspective that highlights the complexity and richness of Sephardic and Mizrahi life.

Program co-sponsored by the Inclusion Committee of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, Jewish Community Relations Council and Alliances of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and Linda & Eli Frank.
