STROLL: For a challenging yet beautiful hike, tackle the 2-mile Eagle Trail loop at Peninsula State Park, the third-largest state park in Wisconsin. Afterward, reward yourself with panoramic views from the top of Eagle Tower, set more than 250 feet above Green Bay.
SHOP: The charming towns of Fish Creek, Ephraim and Sister Bay brim with unique shops for art, décor, food, apparel, gifts and more, and all of these downtowns are walkable.
SEE: Catch a show by Fish Creek’s Peninsula Players Theatre, the oldest professional resident summer theater in the country. Actors perform under an all-weather pavilion, set within 16 acres of woods on the shore of Green Bay.
EAT: Grab breakfast at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik and try its famous Swedish pancakes with lingonberries. For happy hour, its adjacent Stabbur outdoor area has drinks, food, yard games and a leisurely vibe. (Also: The goats on the roof of Al Johnson’s are not to be missed!)
A fish boil is a longstanding Door County tradition, and the Old Post Office Restaurant in Ephraim cooks up one of the most revered. Watch staff boil local whitefish, potatoes and onions outside over a roaring fire before digging into the meal.
SIP: For a taste of wine country in Wisconsin, head to Stone’s Throw Winery in Baileys Harbor to sample wines made locally from California grapes. Take your favorite pour and settle in at an outdoor seat or play a game of bocce.
STAY: The Dörr Hotel in Sister Bay nails the Scandinavian aesthetic of modern-cozy in its rooms and lobby lounge. Opened in 2021, the hotel honors Door County’s Danish, Swedish and Norwegian heritage.
