Q&A with Jessica Regele, ownerWhat’s the mission of your Middleton shop? To make each customer feel welcome when he or she walks into The Regal Find. To help customers find a special gift for someone or for themselves that is handcrafted or a unique vintage find. We carefully complimentary wrap every item purchased so that when it’s opened again each item feels like a treasure.
Tell us about your shop’s collection. We carry handcrafted items created by local makers and artists as well as vintage finds. The whimsical, quirky and beautifully made are the favorites at The Regal Find. We are also known for our Madison and Wisconsin-themed home decor, jewelry and gifts. [We carry] handcrafted items from over 120 artists located across the U.S., including some fair trade items as well.
As shop curator, what hallmarks do you look for in objects? One-of-a-kind, charming, beautifully made items that make me smile
How do you re-love pieces? When I see a piece that looks interesting, I sort through techniques and materials in my mind: Would a new coat of paint, new fabric or decoupage save this from the landfill? Does this treasure have a second life in it? Does it just need a little TLC?
What’s to love about vintage shopping? I think it brings back a memory for some, and for some it’s the charm of an era gone by. I also think people enjoy searching for that special unique something that is vintage because it adds a unique and sometimes one-of-a-kind detail to decorating.
Where does your passion for unearthing unique and precious finds come from? How are these finds integral to our lives? I love helping people discover the perfect “find,” whether it’s finding a gift or finding a gift for themselves that expresses his or her own unique style. I believe that if you surround yourself with the items you love in your home, or how you dress, you become your own personal stylist. When people see you or your home, it’s a curated collection of what you love the most—which is exactly what your friends want to be surrounded by.
Any upcoming events?
We offer Young Artist Workshops for ages 6 to 12 years old, birthday parties, baby showers, wedding showers, team-building activities, private shopping parties and workshops. We offer Adult Workshops as well—an evening spent creating a project while drinking a complimentary glass of wine and a treat from Bloom Bake Shop!
