Pinterest aficionado and entrepreneur Heather McCartney has turned her one-time hobby into a thriving business at The Wild Dandelion. And she’s sharing her love of revitalizing vintage decor even more by hosting painting workshops and individualized instruction in repurposing furniture at her Waunakee shop.

“I enjoy helping people in the community update and change home items they already have,” McCartney says. “There really is no need to buy new furniture when yesterday’s furniture was built with such quality. This is why there is so much old furniture out there; it’s solid and built well.”

McCartney doesn’t shy away from using modern materials like velvet finish paint, pallet wood, industrial piping and fabric in her interior design and makeover schemes. “My art is created after the furniture or a space speaks to me and tells me what it wants to be in its next life. Colors can change a mood or emotion,” she says.

“There is such enjoyment and peace that comes over me when I am painting and building—it’s really a great stress reliever.“
