East Madison Community Center by the Numbers
By Katie Buhman
For 52 years, The East Madison Community Center has provided its East Side neighbors with extensive programming and food support—for children, youth, adults, seniors and new moms. The center also this year garnered a much-needed makeover from Design for a Difference Madison, through which local design, construction and remodeling professionals renovate one nonprofit per year.
The center provides an incredible amount of service to the community, including, each year:
- Welcoming 4,464 participants
- Hosting 2,692 food pantry visits
- Serving 595 children and youth through its minority achievement programs
- Dishing up 9,549 meals to children and youth
All on an annual budget of just $600,000!
