Local photographer (and BRAVA contributor) Nicole installed her kitchen backsplash and floor tile, built her kitchen island, redid her home’s attic bedroom, constructed a lattice fence for her rose garden and has done finishing trim work throughout her home.
One room she hadn’t done anything with in her 1930s English Tudor was the powder room.
“This bathroom had not been touched since the late 1970s. There was evidence in the drywall … that there had been a water leak at some point. The plumbing fixtures needed to be replaced as they were no longer functioning properly and the floor [consisted of] faux wood vinyl tiles, which did not match the rest of the house,” explains Hansen.
The project took about two months to complete, with Hansen doing “98% of the work,” including leveling the floor, installing the marble floor tile, hanging and finishing the drywall, painting and much more. (Her husband and electrician also helped.)
The result is a stunning room that feels original to the home.
“I wanted this space to feel timeless. I imagine one day the future owners will be tricked into thinking the marble floors are original to the home,” says Hansen.
