Celebrate the winter solstice with holiday music, prizes, and community on Thursday, December 21st at 7pm at the MyArts’ Starlight Theater (1055 E. Mifflin Street). The Solstice Benefit Concert is hosted by the Madison Cello Ensemble. Admission is by donation with all proceeds of the event benefiting Madison Cello Ensemble’s Bird-Bear Music Scholarships, Ukrainian children’s hospitals, & Aldo Leopold youth nature programming. Doors open at 5pm with Reception & Door Prize Raffle.
The Madison Cello Ensemble believes that music can be a vehicle for positive change, and that by sharing our passion for cello we can make the world a better place for all.
For the past 25 years, the senior students of Madison Cello Ensemble(MCE) have organized a holiday concert to raise money for causes that they believe in as well as music scholarships for MCE. In 2019 we lost our beloved student Callan Bird-Bear, and created the Bird Bear Music Scholarship Fund to honor their memory. Through this fund, dozens of young musicians have received private cello lessons and ensemble tuition. We give thanks to the generosity of parents, local businesses, and individual supporters of the arts, and especially our dedicated students.
