DESCRIPTION:Following the conclusion of our 25/26 subscription season\, join us for our Centennial Festival Weekend “A Community Gift and Dream — for the Love of Music” on June 13-14\, 2026. During this free\, two-day festival celebration\, MSO musicians and diverse community groups will perform on a rotating schedule throughout various spaces in Overture Center for the Arts. This will also be performances on the mainstage in Overture Hall which include a Family Concert and an Overture Concert Organ Concert on Saturday as well as a Madison Symphony Orchestra Concert on Sunday. We will also have food vendors that will be in Overture Lobby each day from 9:30-4:30 p.m. \nAll performances will be presented free-of-charge to the public — a gift to the city of Madison and surrounding areas for their support of the MSO now and into the future.

SUMMARY:Community Potluck Celebrating Madison's Refugee Families
DESCRIPTION:Open Doors for Refugees will hold its annual Community Potluck Picnic on Sunday\, June 21\, 2026\, at Elver Park from 12 to 3 p.m. \nThis event is free and open to the public. It has family-friendly activities\, live music\, and a potluck luncheon with food from around the world. A celebration of neighborliness\, the picnic provides a unique opportunity to connect with refugee families who are making their home in Madison and to reaffirm America’s long tradition of welcoming immigrants. \nChildren of all ages will enjoy games and activities run by the Madison Children’s Museum and MSCR’s Clay on the Move. \nLive music will include traditional Colombian music by Cumbia Cachaca\, the dulcimer/ percussive artist Gloria Hays\, and the deep blues of Tani Diakite and the Afrofunkstars. Toe-tapping likely. Dancing encouraged! \nOpen Doors for Refugees is a volunteer organization formed in 2016 after Syrian refugees began arriving in Madison. Our mission is to help refugees make a home here. \nLast year’s picnic drew 250-plus people despite the heat. This year we are planning for a bigger crowd yet! \nIn the current political environment\, it is more important than ever to show support for our immigrant neighbors. Please help this effort by letting people know about this free community event.

It’s an event for adults\, families\, and anyone ready to unwind outdoors \nWhat to Expect? \n\nCash bar with beer\, wild-crafted cocktails\, and wine\nFood trucks on site\nLive music on the grounds\nA summer camp-inspired tie-dye activity (pre-registration requested)\nOptional on-site childcare (for a fee)\nCampfire and s’mores\nSunset trail walks through prairie and forest\nLawn games and activity stations\n\nFor our first Camp Aldo Evenings event\, staff and volunteers will lead a classic summer camp favorite: tie-dye! Whether it’s a childhood throwback or your first try\, come add a colorful summer twist to your wardrobe. \nThis event is FREE and open to the public.
